A little perspective

The night, made clearer.

VesperScope is a lightweight night-observation planner. Choose a location and discover when darkness begins, where the Moon will be and which planets are above your horizon.

Start with an evening, not a star catalogue.

A good evening outdoors begins with a few practical questions: When will it be dark? Is the Moon up? Which direction should I face? VesperScope brings those answers into one timeline you can explore.

It is for curious observers, photographers, people taking their first steps in astronomy and anyone who wants a better sense of the sky above them. You do not need an account or specialist vocabulary to get started.

Calculated for your horizon.

The Sun, Moon and planets follow predictable paths. VesperScope uses Astronomy Engine to calculate their positions for your coordinates and selected date, then turns those calculations into local times, observing windows and a simplified Sky View.

The focus is the Moon and seven planets: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Sky View is an orientation aid, with a horizon and compass directions. It is not a complete planetarium or a photograph of the sky.

Choose your place, your way.

Search for a city or place, request your current location, or enter coordinates manually. City search sends your typed query to Photon; astronomy and timezone lookup run locally. The app includes no advertising trackers, analytics, account system or paid astronomy API.

Read how location and saved preferences work, including what your browser and the website host handle separately.

A useful plan, with honest limits.

An object above the horizon may still be hidden by cloud, haze, buildings or hills. Faint planets may require optical equipment. VesperScope describes astronomical placement; it does not predict weather or guarantee what you will see.

Our methodology explains the calculations and thresholds behind every window.
